The Federdoc
The Confederazione Nazionale dei Consorzi volontari per la tutela
delle denominazioni di origine (National Confederation for Voluntary Consortia for the Oversight of the Denominations of Origin or Federdoc) was founded on July 9, 1979, at the Chamber of Commerce of Bologna.

The term “denomination” refers to all the Denominazioni di Origine and the Indicazioni Geografiche Tipiche (DOCG-DOC-IGT) of Italian wines whose production is monitored by oversight Consortia regulated by Ministerial Decree 256/97.

The Voluntary Consortia for the Oversight of the Denominations are permitted to combine in regional and/or interregional federations for the purpose of maximizing the attainment of the aims and objectives established for the territories of reference.

Federdoc is the only inter-professional organization in Italy. It is, therefore, the “table” around which representatives of the agricultural, industrial, cooperative and commercial components of the sector assemble to deal in a calm and constructive way with the problems of the appellations. Together, they seek common solutions and guarantee support for the oversight and international legal protection of the sector.
